How It Got Started

I've been dabbling in researching family history and genealogy for nearly 10 years. In 2020, I entered semi-retirement after a 35-year career that included work as a journalist, public servant, activist and consultant. 

The global COVID-19 pandemic helped me reconnect with extended family members. Together, we started gathering family photos and fascinating, heart-breaking stories. This blog captures and shares those stories, as well as some early history of northern Menominee County, Michigan.

I'd love to connect with others who have roots in Nadeau and Meyer Townships, or elsewhere in the beautiful Upper Peninsula.
